Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, rental car companies in Florida reduced their inventory drastically in order to save money. Let’s face it, everyone tried to do something to ease financial burden during this awful time. However, now life is slowly returning to ‘normal’, the parks are open and visitors are able to travel again, there is a shortage of rental cars.
Pre-pandemic it was quite normal to just turn up at a rental car desk and expect to walk away with the keys to a hire car. That is definitely not the case now. In fact, if you have not pre-reserved a vehicle, you will most likely be disappointed.

If you don’t need a rental car for your entire holiday, an even cheaper option is to use a car hire company nearer to where you are staying. Most rental car companies have satellite branches in and around the Orlando area. Of course, doing it this way would mean taking a taxi from, and possibly back to, the airport. Weighing up the cost of a rental car for the duration of your vacation, as opposed to one for a few days and using taxis, could prove a more viable option.
