MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA

Memorial Day Weekend is just around the corner and travelers are desperate to pack a suitcase and zip off to somewhere sunny and fun.  It doesn’t get more sunny and fun, than Orlando, Florida.  Blue skies, days in the high 80’s, no humidity and endless things to see and do.

Last year was dreadful for everyone and travel had to be placed on the back burner.  Now that restrictions are easing, people are ready to bring the suitcases out, dust off their flip flops and go.  Many places are still on the banned list; not so with Florida.  For those that are able to travel here, Orlando is waiting to welcome you back with open arms.

What Is Open in Orlando?

Well, pretty much everything!  By the time Memorial Weekend is here, all the water parks will be operating again.  Some already are.  Walt Disney World®, Universal Orlando®, Seaworld® and Busch Gardens® are fully operational.  All attractions have safety and cleanliness measures in place, to ensure guest safety and wellbeing.  Restaurants and bars are open and operating at almost 100% capacity and International Drive is beginning to thrive again.

There’s no place better to enjoy an amazingly memorable and magical holiday than Orlando, Florida.  Whether shopping is your passion, sightseeing or watching the children’s’ faces as they see Cinderella’s Castle for the first time, Orlando has something for everyone.

Where to Stay?

The thought of staying in a hotel these days isn’t appealing to the majority of travelers.  Who can blame them?  Crowded lobbies, elevators with buttons to push, bustling corridors.  This is where the vacation rental can shine.  Once guests leave, the cleaners move in and set to ensuring the villa is spotless from top to bottom.  An inspector will visit, prior to new guest arrival, to ensure everything is top notch.  The last thing they do is wipe down touchable surfaces with disinfecting wipes.

Upon arrival, a new guest can rest assured that they will be the only people to touch anything in their private home from home.  There is no sharing a swimming pool with countless others.  Just the people staying in that property.  Peace of mind so desperately needed at the moment.

The perfect thing about a vacation rental is that you can cherry pick one to perfectly suit your family’s needs.  Got lots of children?  Choose a vacation rental with a large pool and a games room.  Travelling with elderly relatives?  Ensure you reserve a villa with a ground floor master bedroom.  Just the two of you?  Choose a smaller villa with a hot tub and a movie theater to cuddle up and watch a favorite film.  At Orlando Rent A Villa, we have many different types of rental, so you can be sure of getting just what you need.

Memorial Day

Let’s not forget what Memorial Day is really about.  For many, it is the chance to honor those who gave their lives in the service of the United States Armed Forces.  It is a chance to visit war memorials and place a flag or flowers in memory of a loved one lost.  Memorial Day was once referred to as “Decoration Day” but that is seldom used any more.  Memorial Day is also classed as the unofficial start to the summer, with Labor Day marking the unofficial start to the fall.

There is some debate about where Memorial Day began, with at least 25 places in the U.S. claiming origination of the holiday.  There are records of women in the South decorating graves of the fallen in 1861, and women in the North in 1863.  Many myths surround what is now an official Federal holiday.
